As a consistent guarantee of the highest quality, Pauwels works closely to ISO 9000 standards, and has achieved ISO 9001 certification for all its transformer types. Regular internal and external quality audits ensure full and continuous conformity with this international standard. The company's materials and components suppliers are also required to satisfy these ISO standards.
Quality control is carried out at each stage of production on a self-assessment basis. Each employee regards the next workstation as his customer, and performs a series of quality checks before passing on a product down the line. The Quality Assurance department monitors all quality control documents and carries out its own additional inspections at strategic points in the production process. This system of checks and counterchecks allows immediate action to be taken and modifications to be made as required.
All transformers are subjected to the full range of specified tests in the testbay of each factory before being released to the customer. Testing to IEC or ANSI specifications includes all routine tests and measurements and may be complemented by type and/or special tests. These supplementary tests are carried out either at the customer's request or as part of an internal sampling procedure to monitor quality on an ongoing basis. All testing is performed within the company with the exception of dynamic short circuit tests, which are contracted out to accredited external laboratories such as KEMA, EDF, LABORELEC and other independent testing bodies.
